Nurses, occupational  therapists, pharmacists and physiotherapists can now certify and issue fit notes in addition to doctors.   The change is set to support patients getting advice and fit notes from their healthcare professional - without having to separately see a doctor.

Over Eight Million Households To Get New Cost-of-living Payment From 14 July
More than eight million households across the whole of the UK will get a cash payment from July to ease cost of living pressures.   Millions will receive the first of two cost of living instalments totalling £650 from 14 July 2022, part of the £1,200 support package this year.

Record investment of almost £8.5 billion was committed to support low income households between 2018-22, with almost £3.3 billion benefitting children.   The fourth annual progress report on child poverty, published today, shows that all of the actions committed as part of the first Tackling Child Poverty Delivery Plan, Every Child, Every Chance, have been delivered.

Insulate Britain Or Miss Net Zero Target
The UK is failing to enact the policies which would put it on track to reach net zero emissions by 2050, according to a progress report by the Climate Change Committee.  The head of this expert body, which advises the government on its climate strategy, described the UK's record on home insulation in particular as "a complete tale of woe".
