Families of more than 327,000 young people helped by Scottish Child Payment
Scottish Child Payment was helping the families of more than 327,000 children at the end of December last year, official statistics have shown.   The £25-a-week payment helps families as part of a wider package of Scottish Government actions to tackle child poverty and support people during the cost of living crisis.

Changes to a key Scottish Government benefit will see an estimated 20,000 people able to access money to help with the cost of food shopping for the first time.   Rule changes around eligibility for Best Start Foods come into force on Monday Feb 26 extending eligibility by making it easier to qualify.

Efforts To Tackle Britain's Epidemic Of Poor Mental Health Should Focus On Lower-qualified Young People
Young people are now more likely to experience a common mental disorder (CMD) than any other age group - a complete reversal compared to two decades ago when they were least likely to.  And the economic consequences are greatest for those whose poor mental comes together with poor educational outcomes, with one-in-three young non-graduates with a CMD currently workless, according to new Resolution Foundation research published today (Monday).

Feedback from public and staff engagement emphasised the need for the Council to change how it operates in order to make improvements and sustainable efficiencies over the coming years.   The Budget saving proposals of £54m over three years are based on cost reduction, income generation, redesign and efficiency, underpinned by investment to deliver sustainable recurring changes and savings.
