Careers Convention At Assembly Rooms, Wick

People living in Caithness are being offered expert advice and information on taking the next step in their careers.
The Caithness Careers Convention will be held on Wednesday 8th March 2006 in The Assembly Rooms Wick and will offer people of all age's comprehensive information on careers, employment, training and education.
The event, organised by Careers Scotland in Thurso, will bring universities, colleges, training providers and employers all under one roof.
More than 40 organisations and businesses will be at the event which will run from 6.00pm to 8.30pm. Hundreds of pupils from Thurso, Wick and Farr High Schools are expected to attend, and people from the wider community are invited to the event including parents/carers and adults who are looking for ideas and support.
Each exhibitor will have their own display area and attendees will be free to visit as many organisations as they want, talk to their representatives and take home information and advice. A wide range of courses, jobs and training opportunities will be represented across many sectors including the armed services, engineering, forestry, childcare and the NHS.
All fourth, fifth and sixth-year pupils in the area will receive a Workbook to help them prepare and make the most of the Careers Convention.
Programmes will also be available for those who want to turn up on the day. This gives a floor plan and reference guide to make it quick and easy to locate the people to whom you want to talk.
Careers Scotland advisers will also be on hand to provide impartial careers information, also information on the wide range of career planning services that Careers Scotland can offer to help individuals achieve their career goals and aspirations. Visitors can make a follow up appointment at the Careers Scotland Centre in Thurso, Careers Scotland also use various venues in the Wick area.
