A Caithness woman, who has worked for some of the biggest corporate names in the world, has returned to Wick to start her own IT training consultancy with help from Caithness and Sutherland Enterprise (CASE).

Donna Booth has been awarded a HIE Starts grant to establish JIT (Just-in-Time) Training. Her new venture follows several years of training and consultancy work with companies such as Compaq, Amerada Hess, Shell and British Telecom.

Donna said: "Although my travels have taken me throughout Europe, Africa, the Middle East and the USA, I have always wanted to return to Caithness. Setting up my own training consultancy has long been an ambition of mine and the birth of my daughter meant there was no time like the present to fulfil my dream.
"I intend to make JIT Training a consultancy which will provide a service equally beneficial to businesses and individuals. Computers are everywhere and it is important that people are trained in exactly what it is they need or want to know. JIT Training will provide custom-designed, tailor-made training whether that be a full application for a 200 person business or a one hour session for an individual on how to shop on the internet."

Donna was educated at Wick High School and studied at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen. She returned to the far north briefly to work at Thurso College and BT Internet before heading to London.

CASE business counsellor Ian Thomson said: "We are delighted that Donna has returned to Wick and started an IT training business with assistance from the HIE Starts scheme. Caithness is a growing economy with a unique population and it is important that provision is made to allow businesses and individuals to reach their full potential."
