Jimmy Manson (18) of Lower Gills, Canisbay, a 2nd year apprentice joiner with D B Smith Joinery, Wick was awarded first prize in this years Scottish Timber Trades Teachers Competition. A module made by Jimmy while attending North Highland College was chosen to be their entrant. The competition is open to all colleges across Scotland and attracted entrants from 12 of those.

Jimmy is pictured with his trophy, certificate, 100 prize money and receiving a 100 Tools Voucher from Gemma Smith along with David Smith.

Mr David Smith said "Jimmy has been a very enthusiastic, conscientious and hard working employee who always leaves a quality finish to this work throughout his first 2 years. Jimmy also won The Robert Riddell Memorial Prize for best first year student in 2005. I am very pleased for him to receive these awards as recognition for his quality work."
