Caithness Chamber Of Commerce recently held a marketing business breakfast, sponsored by Navertech. The event was extremely well attended and highly informative.

Roger Hughes of Hughes Consultancy delivered an interesting and thought-provoking presentation. Anita Sutherland of Clyne Catering prepared a truly wonderful breakfast.

Caithness Chamber of Commerce and Caithness Transport Forum have long been concerned about the economic impact of the Berriedale Braes on the region and are now calling on the Scottish Government to commit to funding a solution this year.  "For too long, the Scottish Government has ignored the impact the Berriedale Braes has on those living and working in the North of Scotland and Orkney Isles," said Chamber chief executive Trudy Morris, who also chairs the Transport Forum.

Caithness Chamber of Commerce has been set into action following announcments about the rollout of rual braodband as Caithness will not see any benefit for some time yet.   The chamber has contacted their meber businesses but would be interested to hear from any Caithness business that thinks slow broadband is affecting their business.

Caithness Chamber funds retraining for subsea sector at The Underwater Centre
The first graduate to come through The Underwater Centres Fort William-based subsea training facility as a result of a Caithness Chamber of Commerce-led funding initiative has already secured a job in the industry.  Kevin Macleod (30), of Caithness, who was working as an instrument technician with Johnson Controls at Dounreay until recently, has been taken on as an apprentice ROV pilot technician with Fugro, one of the worlds largest ROV operators.  
UHI FREE Business Seminars
UHI's Management School will be running a series of 5 free business seminars in October and November.  All workshops will run from 12.30 - 1.30pm and anyone interested can participate by video conference at The North Highland College UHI in Thurso.
