Thurso welcomes launch of new online survey on delivery charges

7th March 2014

Local MP John Thurso has welcomed the launch of a new online survey from Citizens Advice Scotland on unfair delivery charges. The survey is the first of its kind assessing the impact of high delivery charges on businesses in rural parts of Scotland - having previously targeted individual consumers only.

Commenting, John Thurso said:"I am pleased that Citizens Advice Scotland has launched this online survey and I hope that all local businesses will feed in their views on delivery charges. This survey could help to achieve the change to delivery policies that we want to see.

"My colleague Sir Robert Smith also highlighted this issue in Westminster through his Delivery Charges (Transparency for Consumers) Bill which led to the Consumers Minister holding a delivery charges summit in November 2013, for industry representatives including Royal Mail, courier companies and other stakeholders.

"Delivery charges are not only bad for consumers, but can also impact on businesses too, particularly those based in rural areas. The survey is anonymous and should help CAS in their work on this and help us to get to grips with this important and complex issue".

For those wishing to take part in the survey, please go to: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/DeliveryCosts
Paper copies of the survey can be found in all CAB branches in Scotland.
The survey will remain open until 5pm on Friday 14th March
