DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (July, 24th) sold 47 prime cattle and 208 prime sheep.

Prime bullocks (11) averaged 130.5p (+2.6p) and sold to 140p per kg for a for a 575kg Aberdeen Angus cross from Bridgend, Dingwall, and 831.85 gross for a 635kg Charolais cross from Pithogarty, Tain, both to Woodhead Brothers, Turriff.

Prime heifers (36) averaged 131.2p (+1.0p) and sold to 140p per kg for a 540kg Limousin from Dunvournie, Duncanston, to Fraser Brothers, Dingwall, and 811.80 gross for a 615kg Limousin from Bridgend, to Woodhead Brothers.

Leading prices per kg:

Bullocks: Redfield, North Kessock, (Lim), Pithogarty, (BloX) 134p.

Heifers: Bridgend (Lim) 138p; Mountrich Farm, Dingwall, (ChaX) 133p; Pithogarty, (Lim) 131p.

Leading prices per head:

Bullocks: Bridgend, (AAX) 575; Pithogarty, (BloX) 590; Redfield, (Lim) 565.

Heifers: Bridgend, (ChaX) 805.65; Dunvournie, (Lim) 756; Mountrich, (ChaX) 751.45.

Lambs (171) averaged 108.8p (-5.4p) and sold to 125.5p per kg for 43kg texel crosses from Torgorm, Conon Bridge, to Ness Foods, Inverness, and 54.50 gross for a Suffolk cross from Woodside Croft, Blackpark, Arderseir.

SQQ up to 45.5kg (163) averaged 109.2p per kg (-6.2p).

Feeding sheep (37) to 40 gross for for a Texel ewe from Woodside, Muir of Tarradale, Muir of Ord.

DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (October, 4th) sold 496 weaned calves at their first annual district ballot show and sale.  The show champion sponsored by Barclays Transport, Portsoy and Zoetis with Surecalf was awarded to an eight month old Limousin cross bullock from A MacLean, 4 Bualnaluib, Aultbea scaling in at 305kg and realising £800 gross.
