Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd Resume Sales After Restrictions Lifted

Dingwall & Highland Marts Limited held their first Prime sale since the restrictions on the movement of livestock were lifted following the Foot and Mouth outbreak in England. The firm had their firs sale of over 2000 lambs in Portree on Monday the 27th August 2007 and have rescheduled sales over the next fortnight as follows.

DINGWALL - TUESDAY 28TH AUGUST - prime cattle and sheep
STORNOWAY - WEDNESDAY 29TH AUGUST AT 10.00 A.M. - 2500 lambs of all
classes.
DINGWALL - WEDNESDAY 29TH AUGUST AT 11.00 A.M. - 250 store & OTM cattle.
DINGWALL - THURSDAY 30TH AUGUST AT 10.00 A.M. - Annual sale of 10000 N. C. Cheviot lambs incorporating Sutherland & Caithness sale also 2000 Cross lambs.
BEN NEVIS - FRIDAY 31ST AUGUST AT 11.00 A.M. - 2000 lambs of all classes and feeding sheep.

Prime report Tuesday 28th August 2007:
DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (August, 27th) sold 51 prime cattle and 508 prime lambs
Prime bullocks (21) averaged 124.1p and sold to 134p per kg for a 580kg Limousin from Redfield, North Kessock, and £876.80 gross for a 685kg Limousin from Dochcarty Farm, Dingwall, both to Woodhead Brothers, Turriff.
Prime heifers (30) averaged 126.6p and sold to 135p per kg and £830.25 gross for a 615kg Charolais cross from Bridgend, Dingwall, to Woodhead Brothers.
Lambs (508) averaged 103.8p and sold to 110.2p per kg for 44kg cross lambs and £50.20 gross for a pen of 45kg Texel crosses both from Meikle Geddes, Nairn, to John M. Munro Ltd., Dingwall.
SQQ up to 45.5kg (428) averaged 105.2p per kg.
