OVERNIGHT ROAD CLOSURE FOR A9 CROMARTY BRIDGE ON SATURDAY 1 OCTOBER

13th September 2016

Cromarty Bridge will close on Saturday 1 October from 7pm until 6am as part of the on-going refurbishment of the structure.

The closure is necessary for the removal of the temporary barrier system from the east side following completion of upgrade work to the vehicle restraint system.

The timings of the closure have been planned to take place off-peak to minimise disruption to the travelling public.

A signed diversion route will be in place with motorists diverted from Tore Roundabout to Ardullie Roundabout via the A862 through Dingwall and vice versa.

The majority of the parapet works took place at night from February until September this year and is one of the four schemes to take place on Cromarty Bridge within 2016, totalling over £4M of investment by Transport Scotland.

Consultation has been carried out with Emergency Services, transport operators and The Highland Council ahead of the planned bridge closure.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland's North West Representative, said: "We are pleased to complete the final stages of the parapet replacements on Cromarty Bridge, with the removal of the temporary barrier allowing the bridge to be reinstated to its full width.

"Due to the nature of the work, a closure of the bridge is required to ensure the safety of our teams as well as for the protection of motorists.

“A diversion through Dingwall will be in place and we will look to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible.

“We'd advise motorists to plan ahead by checking the Traffic Scotland website and leave some extra time for their journey."
