Following on from the recent announcement that The Highland Council has been successful in applying to the Sustran Places for Everyone fund for an ambitious project to redesign Wick High Street. The Council will be hosting a public forum to update the community on progress and give members of the public the chance to ask questions.

The Wick Redesign project brings together The Highland Council, the Royal Burgh of Wick Community Council, local Councillors, community groups and members of the public to work collaboratively to make improvements that will create a more welcoming and attractive town centre that people want to spend quality time in.

The area the project will initially focus on is the pedestrianised zone of the High Street including Market Square and the two signalised pedestrian crossings on Bridge Street.

The forum, which takes place in Wick Town Hall on Monday 28th February at 7pm, is a chance for the public to re-engage with the project and follows on from the concept design work that took place following earlier community sessions.

Chair of the Caithness Committee, Cllr Raymond Bremner who will be chairing the event hopes as many people as possible take up this opportunity to get involved and find out more.

He said: "This is a great chance for folk to find out more about what has happened since the project started and what the next plans are. It is also a chance to ask questions of the project team who will be in attendance.

"The funding we received from Sustrans will be used to deliver the detailed design stage and needs to be spent by March 2023. There is a lot of work to be done and, as the previous consultations detailed, the ambitions are high. We want to continue involving local businesses and residents in the next staged This Forum is just the start of the on-going engagement that we will be undertaking."

Anyone interested in taking part has the chance to submit their questions before the event via this on-line form https://forms.office.com/r/KtUencCmUZ or if they prefer they can ask questions during the forum.
