Guidance for the childcare sector to help providers, staff and parents understand how to operate safely during the coronavirus pandemic (updated 17 February 2022).

What does this involve?
The Scottish Government has published guidance for the childcare sector to help providers, staff and parents understand how to operate safely during the coronavirus pandemic.

Among other topics, the guidance includes advice on:

performing regular risk assessments
staff training
protecting the physical and mental wellbeing of staff and children
routine asymptomatic testing for childminders
specific measures that should be taken if your area is in a particular level
face coverings and physical distancing
considerations for adults and children who are vulnerable, shielding or have other additional needs
health and hygiene measures, including enhanced cleaning, handwashing, PPE, ventilation and use of outdoor space
singing and the risk of transmission
travelling to and from the service premises, including international travel and quarantine
what to do when a child, childminder or assistant becomes ill, plus advice on Test and Protect and managing an outbreak
safety measures for visitors to the site
financial impact and workforce support
additional guidance and support

Specific guidance has been published for early learning and childcare (ELC) services and for school-aged childcare (for children attending school). Please make sure you refer to the appropriate guidance for your setting and for the age range of children in your care.
