9,491 new cases* of COVID-19 reported.

36 new reported deaths* of people who have tested positive.

16 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19.

1,272 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19.

4,437,162 people have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccination, 4,159,556 have received their second dose, and 3,440,493 have received a third dose or booster.

* From 1 March 2022, the national case definition has been updated to include reinfections. This means the headline number of COVID-19 cases and deaths now includes cases based on an individual's first positive test as well as possible reinfections, where an individual tests positive 90 days or more after their last positive test.

in the week ending 27 February, 79 deaths were registered where COVID-19 was on the death certificate.

Since the start of the outbreak:

10,824 people have died who have tested positive as at 3 March.

13,316 deaths have been registered in Scotland where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate up to 20 February.

29% of COVID-19 registered deaths related to deaths in care homes, 64% were in hospitals and 7% were at home or non-institutional settings (as at 27 February).

* From 1 March 2022, this figure contains individuals who have died within 28 days of their first positive test and also within 28 days of a possible reinfection, where they have tested positive 90 or more days after their last positive test.

1,272 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19; of these, 16 were in intensive care.

in addition, yesterday 10 confirmed COVID-19 patients were in intensive care longer than 28 days.

in the week ending 27 February, 761 patients with confirmed COVID-19 were admitted to hospital.

in the week ending 2 March, 19 patients with confirmed COVID-19 were admitted to intensive care.

33,656 inpatients who tested positive for COVID-19 have been discharged from hospital since 5 March 2020.

as at 2 March, 1,587 people were delayed in hospital.
