9,721 new cases of COVID-19 reported*.

28 new reported deaths of people who have tested positive.

31 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19.

2,038 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19.

4,441,461** people have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccination, 4,171,998** have received their second dose, and 3,470,435** have received a third dose or booster.

* Please note that case figures reported today (17 March 2022) cover less than a 24 hour period. This is due to a reoccurrence of the technical issue from earlier in the week, meaning data has not been received since 2pm yesterday (16 March 2022).

** Due to technical issues, Public Health Scotland has not been able to provide vaccination data today (17 March 2022). Figures remain unchanged from those reported yesterday (16 March 2022).

in the week ending 13 March, 117 deaths were registered where COVID-19 was on the death certificate.

Since the start of the outbreak:

11,075 people have died who have tested positive as at 17 March.

13,563 deaths have been registered in Scotland where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate up to 13 March.

29% of COVID-19 registered deaths related to deaths in care homes, 64% were in hospitals and 7% were at home or non-institutional settings (as at 13 March).

2,038 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19; of these, 31 were in intensive care.

in addition, yesterday 9 confirmed COVID-19 patients were in intensive care longer than 28 days.

in the week ending 13 March, 1,180 patients with confirmed COVID-19 were admitted to hospital.

in the week ending 16 March, 34 patients with confirmed COVID-19 were admitted to intensive care.

35,601 inpatients who tested positive for COVID-19 have been discharged from hospital since 5 March 2020.

as at 16 March, 1,611 people were delayed in hospital.
