£1.5 MILLION AID FOR HISTORIC BUILDINGS. More than £1.5 million has been awarded to help repair seven historic buildings across Scotland as part of Historic Scotland's Building Repairs Grants scheme.
The charity which runs The Castle of Mey, the Caithness home of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, celebrated the Diamond Jubilee and commemorated the 10th anniversary of HM The Queen Mother's passing by officially opening a new rose garden on Saturday 25th August. The Diamond Jubilee Rose Garden, with flowers all specifically chosen by HRH The Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay, is situated in the walled garden, which was a favourite place of Her Majesty The Queen Mother and her corgis.

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall today opened a visitor's centre built in memory of The Late Queen Mother. The �900,000 centre is based at The Castle of Mey, The Queen Mother's former summer residence.
