Laurandy Centre

Photograph of Laurandy CentreThe Laurandy Centre is for use of older people in our community of Wick and surrounding areas who require support during the day. You must have care needs to access this service.

The centre is registered with the Care Inspectorate and accommodates up to 20 persons daily.

The building is an original war time building at the airport in Wick. It is on one level with good access. Inside there are two lounges,dining room several toilets and two wet room areas. We also have a nice kitchen from where we serve teas and lunch.

A choice of lunch menu is available.

A choice of activities.

Care support from trained social care staff including personal care such as shower support.

Advice and support with any concern.

Transport to pick you up and return you home with escort assistance.

There is a daily charge to cover food costs and a weekly care charge.

A brochure is available.

On Saturday 13th April 2019 the members of Francis Street Bowlers made three generous donation to three local groups.   A day spent playing bowls at the opening day of the season at Thurso Bowling Club was followed by a buffet tea after which they presented the cheques.

Leaving a Legacy to the Laurandy Day Care Centre Since the Laurandy Day Care Centre first opened many people and their families have benefited from the services of the centre.   It is a centre available to the needs of the elderly in our community, and is here to help people in need of daily activities and to offer respite for carers.

St Fergus Bowling club in Wick recently donated £300 to the Laurandy Day Care Centre in Wick.   St Fergus Bowling Club Chairman Malky Mackay handed over a cheque for £300 to Laurandy Centre chairman Bill Fernie.

Laurandy Day Centre, Wick and NHS Bayview, Thurso Take Over Alzheimers In Caithness
From 1st May 2017 Alzheimers Scotland will no longer offer their services in Caithness for people suffering from dementia.   Couthie Corner, Thurso based at Bayview will no longer be run by Alzheimer Scotland but will instead be run by the NHS and the Longberry day service in Wick will be taken over by Laurandy.
