Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd - Sale 30 September 2020
DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (September, 30th) sold 709 Continental cross store cattle, yearlings and weaned calves.   Bullocks (440) averaged 231.8p (up 27.0p on the year) and sold to 303.2p per kg for a 470kg Limousin cross from 1 & 2 Conon, Uig and £1,320 gross for a 690kg Charolais cross from Fiddlefield, Muir of Ord.

Shell To Cut Up To 9,000 Jobs As Oil Demand Slumps
Royal Dutch Shell has said it plans to cut 7,000 to 9,000 jobs as it responds to challenges including the slump in oil demand amid the Covid-19 pandemic.   The oil giant said the cuts would be implemented by 2022 and included 1,500 people who were taking voluntary redundancy.

Scotland's economy recovering but fragile
Scotland's economy has recovered half the fall in GDP which followed the necessary restrictions imposed in March to control coronavirus (COVID-19), but may still not return to pre-pandemic levels until the end of 2023, a report has found.   The latest State of the Economy report, published by the Scottish Government’s Chief Economist Gary Gillespie, also highlights the risks that the Scottish economy is facing as a new phase of support is rolled out, and restrictions on business and households continue.

£1.1b For Health And Social Care Sector In Scotland
Scotland's health and social care sector will receive £1.1 billion in additional funding to support its work through coronavirus (COVID-19) pressures, Health Secretary Jeane Freeman has announced.   The funding will be allocated to NHS Boards and Health and Social Care Partnerships across Scotland to help them meet COVID-19 related costs such as additional staffing or sickness expenditure, enhanced infection prevention and control measures, and the purchase of PPE.

New route for Council staff to whistleblow confidentially with confidence
Proposals that could provide Highland Council employees with a new ‘independent, dedicated and confidential route' to report malpractice and wrongdoing concerns have received support from Highland Councillors.   Following robust discussion, Members of the Audit and Scrutiny Committee have endorsed the movement of the management of the Council’s Whistleblowing Policy and its processes to the Council’s Fraud Team.
