DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (October, 21st) sold 544 weaned calves and store cattle and 8 adult head of breeding cattle.   Stot calves (332) averaged 230.5p (last year 207.9p) and sold to 329.0p per kilo for a pair of 152kg Charolais crosses from Dunlichity Farm, Farr and £1,300 for a 745kg Limousin cross from Achavraat, Nairn.

Monthly GDP Estimates For August
Scotland's GDP increased by 2.6% in August, according to statistics announced today by the Chief Statistician.  This is the fourth consecutive month of increasing GDP following the large drops in March and April, but represents a slowdown from the increase of 6.4% in July.

Improving Additional Support For Learning
Children and young people with additional support needs will be now be directly involved in the decisions that affect them following an independent review.   The Scottish Government and COSLA have drawn up a joint action plan for additional support for learning (ASL) after accepting the recommendations made in the independent review chaired by Angela Morgan.

UK Credit Rating Downgraded By Moody's
From The Guardian Credit ratings agency Moody's has downgraded Britain's credit status, citing a decline in economic strength in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic and continued Brexit uncertainty.   With the government struggling to contain a second wave and ministers under pressure to sanction extra spending to protect businesses and jobs, Moody's lowered the UK's sovereign debt rating by one notch to Aa3 from Aa2.
