Further Funding For Tourism in Scotland
Two new funding packages worth £15 million will support the tourism sector as it continues to feel the impacts of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.   A £14 million Hotel Recovery Programme will help to secure up to 3,000 jobs at Scotland's larger hotels until the start of the summer 2021 tourism season.

A new campaign to raise awareness of the fire risk and the precautions that need to be taken by users of skin creams has been launched today.   Some skin creams, when dried on to fabric, can create a highly flammable combination that can cause serious injury and death, regulators warn today.

Scotland's GDP is confirmed to have fallen by 2.5% during the first quarter of 2020, according to statistics announced today by the Chief Statistician.  The change in the latest quarter has not been revised from the first estimate published on 17 June 2020.

UK Households Have Experienced The Biggest Immediate Income Shock Since The Mid-1970s
Policy response has massively boosted poorest households' incomes, but further shocks lie ahead.   The covid-induced crisis has caused typical working-age household incomes to fall 4.5 per cent between the pre-crisis period and May this year, despite the critical policy support that has cushioned the shock for millions of households, according to the Resolution Foundation's Living Standards Audit published on Tuesday 21st July 2020.

Every Horse In Scotland To Be Microchipped By 2021
New equine identification regulations mean that it is now a legal requirement for all horses in England, Scotland and Wales to be microchipped as well as having a passport.  Until now horses born before 2009 weren't required to have microchips but these new regulations mean that any horses without microchips will need to be chipped.
