Tour Your Local UHI Campus
The four North Highland College UHI (NHC) campuses are ever expanding and having had over £11 million invested over the last five years, is now opening its doors to offer campus tours for the general public. The scheduled tours are available to book online via the college website - www.northhighland.uhi.ac.uk and will entail a general tour of one of the four campuses based in Thurso, Halkirk, Alness and Dornoch.

ERI Met New Partners In Thurso To Kick Off Turnkey Project
New project aims to find marine energy hot spots A project to find the best new places to install marine energy devices in Europe was launched in Thurso today. Led by scientists at North Highland College UHI’s Environmental Research Institute, TURNKEY (transforming underutilised renewable natural resource into key energy yields) will bring together representatives from five European countries and use cutting edge technology to assess the locations with the best marine energy potential.

NHC GAMEKEEPING STUDENTS ARE SPORTING SUCCESS
Two Gamekeeping Modern Apprentice’s from the North Highland College UHI have been collecting numerous awards for their commitment to country sports and learning. Duncan Seaton (19) and Greg Sinclair (19) are both studying their SVQ Level 2 in Game and Wildlife Management at the college on a block release basis, spending the rest of their time working on Highland estates.

Scientific spotlight shines on Flow Country
Scientists from across the UK will converge in Caithness this week to discuss the latest findings in peatland research. Organised by North Highland College UHI’s Environmental Research Institute (ERI), the ‘Research in the Flow Country’ conference has attracted over sixty attendees.

Calling Flow Country Artists To ERI Conference
Scientists from Thurso’s Environmental Research Institute are reaching out to the art community in Caithness. Artists and designers of all disciplines are being given the opportunity to display their work and interact with the scientific community at a forthcoming conference in Thurso dedicated to research in the Flow Country.

Thurso High School to reopen on Monday 6 January
Thurso High School, which was damaged on Christmas Eve during a storm, is to reopen to all pupils and staff on Monday 6 January On 24 December a large section of the roof of the 802 pupil school was blown off during high winds. The school was closed for the Christmas holidays at the time and no one was injured but some damage was reported to private cars in the neighbouring area.24/12/2013

A large section of Thurso High School roof has been blown off with the high winds. Police and Highland Council staff are in attendance and Ormlie Road has been closed.14/11/2013
New head teacher for Thurso High School 
The Highland Council has appointed Mr Ken Murphy, to the post of Head Teacher of the 804-pupil Thurso High School. Mr Murphy, who has been the Acting Head Teacher since August of this year, succeeds Dr Fiona Grant, who has reverted to a teaching post at the school.

Young Caithness People Get Job Ready Experience From DSRL
A week long summer school was held in late July for students of Thurso, Wick and Farr High School students in 4th, 5th & 6th years to prepare them for the world of work. The course, organised by DSRL (Dounreay Site restoratiopn Ltd) on behalf of the NDA (Nuclear Decommissioning Agency), was supported by North Highland College and Skills Development Scotland.

New Acting Head Teacher Appointed at Thurso High School
The new acting head teacher of Thurso High School will be Mr Ken Murphy, who is currently Depute Head Teacher at the school. He has been appointed as Acting Head Teacher, pending re-advertisement of post, and the appointment of a permanent Head Teacher.30/11/2012
North Highland College UHI business student wins £1000 prize in UHI competition
Jenna Forbes (21) from Westerdale beat off strong competition to win £1000 prize money for the Best Student Idea in the UHI Business Ideas competition recently held in Inverness. Jenna, an HNC Business student at The North Highland College UHI pitched her idea to the judging panel at Inverness College UHI’s Longman Campus.

Thurso High School's new Acting Head Teacher
Thurso High School will have a new acting head teacher when pupils return from their October holidays. John McGilp, Head Teacher at Kinlochleven High School, is moving to Thurso High School as Acting Head Teacher until the end of the school session in June, next year.3/10/2012
