The Highland Council took delivery of two huge Archimedes Screws today on the site where the local authority is building a new hydroelectric generator and interactive visitor experience on the River Ness.   The generator will use the Archimedes Screws to harness the energy of the water flowing down the River Ness.

Multi-billion pound green hydrogen contract signed on eve of COP
Fortescue Future Industries signs agreement with JCB and Ryze Hydrogen to become United Kingdom's largest supplier of green, renewable hydrogen Fortescue Future Industries (FFI) will become the largest supplier of green hydrogen (GH2) to the United Kingdom after signing a multi-billion pound deal with construction giant J C Bamford Excavators (JCB) and Ryze Hydrogen (Ryze).   Under a memorandum of understanding signed today prior to the climate conference, COP26, JCB and Ryze will purchase 10 percent of FFI's global green hydrogen production.

First Minister Meets Young Activists During Cop26
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has met with young climate activists Vanessa Nakate and Greta Thunberg today as world leaders arrive in Glasgow for COP26.   During COP26 the First Minister will engage regularly with Vanessa Nakate, from Uganda, including at today's Global Climate Assembly event in the green zone.

Increasing Vaccination Capacity
More than 100 members of the Armed Forces will this week join the national Autumn/Winter vaccination programme.   Some 100 vaccinators and 15 nurses will work across all 11 territorial health boards on the mainland to support the rollout of flu vaccines and coronavirus (COVID-19) injections and boosters.

The Scottish Government has committed £32 million to create a further 139 trainee doctor posts to support services under greatest pressure during the ongoing recovery from COVID-19.   Trainee doctors currently make up 44% of doctors employed by NHS Boards.
