Caithness members supported in their call for a Highland-wide Playground Strategy
At the meeting of The Highland Council Members supported a starred item put forward by Caithness Members.   The Thurso and North West Caithness and the Wick and East Caithness Ward Councillors asked that the Council creates and implements a Council wide playground strategy that considers the needs and expectations of communities and supports the active play, well-being and social activity of children and their families.

Plan For Jobs In Action: Hundreds Of Thousands Of Jobs Supported In Record £650 Billion Infrastructure Investment
A record £650 billion infrastructure investment will support 425,000 jobs a year, according to a new Infrastructure Pipeline launched today (Monday13 September 2021) alongside the Government's latest Plan for Jobs Progress Update.   425,000 jobs a year to be supported over the next four years in the most ambitious programme of infrastructure investment on record.

The worrying statistics show the surge is ongoing with more deaths and infections daily.   NHS Highland has confirmed more cancellations of the usual treatment and operations at their hospitals while staff try to deal the the growing numbers in hospital.

Dingwall & Highlands Marts Ltd = Highland Mules Sale - 13 September 2021
DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highlands Marts Ltd, (September, 13th) sold 3,484 ewe lambs and gimmers at the Highland Mule Breeders Association annual sale.   Highland Mule gimmers (924) averaged £179.24 (+£36.51 on the corresponding sale of last year) and sold to £250 from Ballindalloch Home Farm.

9 Out Of 10 Unpaid Carers Missing Out On Support
Scottish Labour have called for a "fair deal" for unpaid carers, as analysis revealed over 9 in 10 unpaid carers are missing out on Carers Allowance.   It is estimated that there are now 1.1 million unpaid carers in Scotland, but of them only 82,000, or 7 per cent, receive Carers Allowance and the Scottish Carers Allowance Supplement.

5,912 new cases of COVID-19 reported.   55,646 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results 11.5% of these were positive.

Second Doses Offered To All Eligible Adults
Missed appointments can be rearranged as programme continues.   Scotland's largest ever vaccination programme will complete second doses for all over 18s who have attended their scheduled appointments by close of play on Sunday 12 September 2021.

4,298 new cases of COVID-19 reported.   42,529 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results 10.9% of these were positive.

Funding For Libraries To Re-open
A new fund worth more than £1 million that will help libraries re-open is being launched by the Scottish Government.   The Public Libraries COVID Recovery Fund will allow libraries to re-connect with their communities as part of Scotland's recovery from the pandemic.
