An initiative aimed at promoting the excellent products from farmers in the far north of Scotland where animals are mainly grass fed and live in the unspoilt country that makes up the northern counties of the Highlands. Mey Selections beef and lamb is sourced from the Highlands in the most northerly part of Britains mainland, north of Inverness and extending all the way to John OGroats in Caithness. Mey Selections is part of the North Highlands Initiative (NHI), a scheme founded by The Prince. HRH, who has long been a champion of small farmers, founded the NHI to benefit farmers, crofters, tourism and local businesses in the North Highlands. The initiative aims to raise the profile of the area and help improve farmers income. Sainsbury's was selected as the first supplier of Mey Selections by the NHI because of the supermarkets commitment to supporting small suppliers and paying premium price to farmers. The product range being promoted is gradually being expanded and includes cheese in addition to a range of meat products. The main theme is to show the high quality of products available from the north of Scotland.
