Osteopathy is a system of healing that applies the main emphasis to the structure of the body; the muscles, joints, connective tissues and their nerve and blood supply. It aims to achieve a harmonious relationship with these structures, to allow the body to gain optimum function. MNZRO Registered Osteopath Sheila has been in practice for 18 years after completing 4 years study at the European School of Osteopathy. She has worked both as an assistant and in her own practices in Perth, Edinburgh, Thurso and New Zealand where osteopathy is an integrated part of the health system. Preventative treatment, posture, exercises to strengthen injury prone joints are of special interest. The consultation involves a detailed case history and a physical examination involving palpation and testing of joint motion. Osteopathic treatment uses a range of soft tissue and manipulative techniques applied to the muscles, ligaments and joints. The selection of techniques depends on what the practitioner feels is the most appropriate. Treatment includes advice on posture and exercise with the view that patients share responsibility for their own well being. We believe that an osteopathic treatment should be a pleasant experience performed by well qualified practitioners in a relaxing environment who carefully assess and explain the methods of therapy. Opening hours are 8:00am till 8:00pm Monday to Friday and Saturday 1:00-6:00pm.
