Picshall.com is a play on words. On the one hand the title suggests a hall with pictures, and on the other, the title sounds like �pixel� which for the digital photo restorer, is their �bread and butter� in terms of raw materials. Originally the site was intended for a showcase of photographs until I stumbled across digital restoration a few years ago. Having worked in and around �wet� photography (film) for a number of years, coupled with embracing emerging digital technology, I found the transition from traditional darkroom techniques to pixel based technology a surprisingly smooth passage. With the use of sophisticated editing software, image manipulation and the restoration of old faded photos can now be a reality. However, although basic skills can be learnt in improving damaged photos, the real skill is patience and a meticulous eye for detail. Cleaning up a badly damaged photo can be a tedious and time consuming process, but, like most things, it needs to be approached professionally. Therefore, at picshall.com, every care is taken to improve and repair your photographs to a very high standard.
