The average house price in Highland was £214,000 in August 2024 (provisional), up 5.9% from August 2023. This was higher than the rise in Scotland (5.4%) over the same period. Rent data for Scottish areas are for 'broad rental market areas'. Highland is in the rental area of Highland and Islands. Private rent prices rose to an average of £678 in September 2024, an annual increase of 3.8% from £653 in September 2023. This was lower than the rise in Scotland (7.2%) over the year. The average price paid by first-time buyers was £172,000 in August 2024 (provisional). This was 5.9% higher than the average of £163,000 in August 2023 (revised). For homes bought with a mortgage, the average house price was £212,000 in August 2024 (provisional). This was 6.3% higher than the average of £200,000 in August 2023 (revised).
