A New Voice In For Ebooks And Digital Publishing In Caithness

19th December 2010

North Highland Publishing Ltd is a new, innovative digital publisher helping authors to deliver their work to a wider audience. Based in Caithness but aimed at a global market. North Highland Publishing Ltd will deliver a tailored service to meet the needs of new and existing authors from concept to eBook.

From December 2010, North Highland Publishing will move one step further into the e-publishing World by launching the company website (www.northhighlandpublishing.com).

Company Director, Elizabeth Kirk, said of the website launch; "We are excited about this opportunity to encourage new and existing writers. We know of the difficulty that new authors have in reaching the public. Our new service takes advantage of the dramatic uptake of eBooks and eBook readers such as the iPad and Kindle. It offers a new channel for existing authors and publishers to access a global market. We know that there are many people who will be reading books in a whole new way. Caithness has a great tradition of writing and we want to encourage people to access this in a professional way."

North Highland Publishing Ltd looks to attract more people to self publish and use the channel of eBooks to distribute their work. Speaking of their partnership with Elgin based Librario Publishing Ltd, an independent highland publisher, Kirk said, "We are delighted to include a selection of great books from Librario. This is a great example of making this type of book available to a wider audience."

Librario Managing Director Mark Lawson, welcoming the new association said, "North Highland Publishing is an exciting development which will open the market for a range of titles which are not widely distributed at present. While initial demand for eBooks has been for the hot best sellers, we see the market expanding to all categories of books including more local and esoteric works. Librario's titles fit into the North Highland Publishing website very well and will make these works more widely available. With the improved quality of reader devices, even illustrated books are every bit as satisfying to read as the printed ones. We will of course continue to offer both versions while the eBooks will be markedly cheaper."

Publishing Director for North Highland Publishing Ltd, Cara Quinn said, "We were aware of the cost for new authors to enter the market. The ability to provide access to the new eBook revolution is crucial for authors." The recent uptake in eBook readers ranging from Sony's eBook readers to Amazon's Kindle and Apple's iPad is predicted to increase sales of eBooks this Christmas and in 2011. Quinn said, "We are well placed to ensure that new authors can take advantage of this new market."
