CAREERS CONVENTION HOSTED BY SKILLS DEVELOPMENT SCOTLAND - THURSO HIGH SCHOOL WEDNESDAY 2ND MARCH FROM 6.00PM - 8.30PM

People living in Caithness are being offered expert advice and information on taking the next step in their careers.

The Careers Convention will be held on Wednesday 2nd March 2011 at Thurso High School, Ormlie Road, Thurso from 6.00 pm - 8.30pm and will offer people of all age's comprehensive information on careers, employment, training and education.

The event, organised by Skills Development Scotland in Thurso, will bring universities, colleges, training providers and employers all under one roof.

More than 40 organisations and businesses will be at the event which will run from 6.00pm until 8.30pm. Pupils from Wick, Thurso and Farr High Schools are expected to attend, as well as people from the wider community who are looking for advice and support.

Each exhibitor will have their own display area and attendees will be free to visit as many organisations as they want, talk to their representatives and take home information. A wide range of courses, jobs and training opportunities will be represented across many sectors including the armed services, NHS careers, local apprenticeships, hospitality, opticians, plumbing, vets, volunteering and many more.

All fourth, fifth and sixth-year pupils in the area will receive a Workbook to help them prepare and make the most of the Careers Convention.

Skills Development Scotland advisers will also be on hand to provide impartial careers information, as well as information on the wide range of career planning services that Skills Development Scotland can offer to help individuals achieve their career goals and aspirations. Visitors can make a follow up appointment with an adviser in the Caithness area.
