Call for Pubs In The Highlands To Enter New Calor Rural Pub In the Community Award

Calor today announced that it is adding a brand new award aimed at rural pubs to its Calor Village of the Year(r) competition. The company is calling on pubs in the Highlands to enter.

Calor, the UK's leading supplier of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), in association with Business in the Community and Pub is the Hub will search for the UK's best Calor Rural Pub in the Community Award.

The pub is traditionally at the heart of a village and the importance of encouraging sustainable communities is at the very core of the Calor Village of the Year competition.

Calor, together with Business in the Community and Pub is the Hub will be using the new award to celebrate pubs that have diversified their businesses to offer their local community a wider range of services.

Speaking of the new award, Calor's commercial market manager, Sabrina Jackson, said: "Pubs which have found innovative ways in which to serve their local community and help their own business success in the process will be highlighted. We want to showcase best practice and ideas thatother rural pubs and licensees can adopt."

Calor's LPG is used in a wide variety of applications in rural areas from catering equipment and heating in pubs and restaurants to a whole host of agricultural uses.

Business in the Community works to promote mutually beneficial links between businesses and local communities. The new award was prompted from its work with Pub is the Hub, which was inspired by His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales as President of Business in the Community.

Pub is the Hub is a campaign which provides valuable advice, guidance and information on how rural pubs can be sustained within rural communities.

John Longden, Pub is the Hub, said the new award is great news for ruralpubs. "It is marvellous to have formal recognition for the hard work and success that communities and publicans achieve together in supporting access to services in rural areas."
