There is definitely something unique about the Tea Cosy at East Mey. Apart from the fact that it serves freshly prepared food using local produce wherever possible is situated near a fascinating part of the Caithness coast. More and more people are discovering that this recently opened eating place has a lot to offer apart from the wonderfully fresh food and nice room in which to eat it.

The Tea cosy sits next to the other half of the business a gift and craft shop "Simply Unique" that is home to a unique andexclusive range of crafts and gifts handcrafted in the Caithness and sutherland area. Much of the art and craft work displayed draws its inspiration from the local coastline and countryside. This creates an individualism in the work particular to the area. Art, Cards, decoupage, handbags, hats, pottery countrystyle art, wood turned items, candles, hand-made, soap and books are amongst the huge selection of items on view.

After a browse round the shop the Tea Cosy beckons with its warm and friendly atmosphere where you can enjoy morning coffee, tea or a light lunch. More and more loclas as well as visitors to the area are finding the Tea Cosy a great place to visit.

Not only does it cater for wide range of tastes but children wil be delighted to look artound the collection of Birds of Prey in the cages outside whilst a small farm of unsual animals is being developed around the outside. At present there are two turkey stags and a variety of breeds of fowl, pheasants and others slowly being added to the collection so you never quite know what will await your next visit. At present barn owls, a European eagle and Harris Hawk make an intersting look round after a quite cup of tea.

Or you can enjoy a stroll to the locall famous Scotland's Haven and St John's Point as they are located nearby. At these places you will manage to see superb views of the Pentrland Firth and the island of Stroma. Seals, puffins and wide range of birds depending on the season are to be found in this quiet part of Caithness.

Situated between Mey Castle and the Gills Fery Terminal - (both minutes away in different directions on the coast) its great place to take in the area and do some sight seeing or for relaxing afternoon and with local beaches the kids will love it for day out.

It is not suprising that more and more folk are returning regularly to the Tea Cosy and it is open seven days a week from 10.00am - 5.00pm for the shop and 9.00am - 5.30pm for the shop.
