YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR AWARD 2014 NOW OPEN FOR ENTRIES

5th June 2014

Caithness Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that it is now accepting entries for the George Bruce Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2014. Now in its fifth year, the award aims to highlight a young, local business person who has displayed the necessary drive and determination to make their business a success.

Trudy Morris, chief executive of Caithness Chamber of Commerce, said: "We are delighted to have this opportunity to showcase the drive and entrepreneurial spirit of young businesspeople in Caithness.

"We'd also like to extend our thanks to Kongsberg Maritime for their sponsorship of the award. Their generous sponsorship over the years has really helped support entrepreneurism amongst young people in Caithness.

"Caithness is home to a wide range of talented, enthusiastic and ambitious young people, and we expect to see another strong crop of entries for this year's award."

Previous winners of the award include Kris Hamilton, of Hamilton Optimum Training, and Lynsey MacGregor of Lark & Lily Designs. Kris, last year's winner, developed his interest in sports and personal fitness into a thriving business. Starting with just a Facebook page offering his services as a personal trainer, Kris quickly grew his business and was soon providing one-to-one fitness training to a number of clients, as well as running regular training classes in Caithness.

Lynsey, the previous year's winner, started her business making bespoke accessories for family and friends. Within 15 months, she had an online shop and was taking orders from as far afield as Australia, Asia and the United States.
In addition to the award itself - made and sponsored by Caithness Stone Industries - the winner will receive a £500 cash prize, generously sponsored by Kongsberg Maritime, as well as one year's free business membership of Caithness Chamber of Commerce.
