The event will be a chance for people to learn about the new Archive as a whole, and find out what jobs are on offer by meeting the various different subcontractors, security, highlife highland etc.

Recruitment has begun in earnest for the new NDA Archive based in Wick. This striking facility will not only collect and store records from across the nuclear industry, but will also house the impressive collection of the local Caithness Archive. Progress on the construction of the Archive is developing rapidly, with a host of local people being employed in this initial building phase. The Archive is scheduled for completion in autumn 2016.

As the Archive approaches completion a diverse range of roles and opportunities will become available. These positions will cover aspects such as specialist archiving and records management, security, administration and general operations. Initially up to 20 jobs will be created, with ongoing potential for this number to increase. The Archive will also develop a comprehensive training programme and expand on existing local volunteer initiatives.

As part of a commitment to ensure a lasting socio economic legacy in Caithness there will be a keen focus on the recruitment of local people to fill these positions. As such, a dedicated NDA Archive jobs fair will be held in Wick, running for two days from the 11th - 12th May.

This event is open to those interested in the vacancies available and also to anyone wishing to learn more about the Archive generally. Local people will have the chance to visit a number of different information desks and hear regular talks and presentations. Representatives from Restore, Highlife Highland, Key FM and Profile Security will each concentrate on their specific function in contributing to the successful running of the Archive.

The Archive aims to play a unique role in preserving knowledge for the future, whether this be vital nuclear records or documents of historical significance to Caithness. The Archive will not only provide secure employment for years into the future, it also offers the chance to be part of a culturally significant, out of the ordinary project.
