Scam Calls Still Pretending To Be Microsoft Engineers - Do NOT Get Caught

24th February 2017

We received a call from telephone number 0015784569874 which hung up seconds later.

They use automatic dailing and whoever picks up first gets the call.

We checked this number and found several web site warning about scams from this number.

See some more calls reported at http://who-called.co.uk/Number/0015784569874

Never let them take control of your computer - they will always have a plausible story to try and get your to let them take over your computer via the telephone to fix a so called problem.

DO NOT do as they say.

We see a few scams from time to time but do not have time to post warnings about the many scams gong on but there are lots of web sites that do so if you are interested look them up on Google.

Bill Fernie says "I always use my mothers advice -

Never accept cold callers - that used to be at your door. Then it was the telephone, fax and emails."

Whichever way it comes - Cold Callers want your money or information.

Did you ask for it? Say NO.

If you want a service always check yourself .

If asked to call back then use a different phone so they can't scam you by hanging onto your line.

There are so many ways to con people it's impossible to go over everything.

The old addage still holds true no matter how they communicate - if it sounds to good to be true then it usually is. You are always safer to say NO.

And try to warn your elderly or disabled friends and relatives who may not be so switched on and may be more trusting of contacts.

And watch for lines like

"This is a survey"

"This is not a sales call"

"We will be in your area and looking for homes to use for whatever"

"Are you the home owner?"

"You may be in line for something .........."

Don't confirm anything they may ask about your personal details.

If they say it will only take couple of minutes - Say you do not have time or not interested. Byeeeeeee.

Don't be polite - they are only polite to get you to be cooperative. Be firm and say NO.

Never give out personal information or bank details to callers.
