Construction gets underway at Bad á Cheò Wind Farm

10th March 2017

• Activity will start mid-late March 2017.

• Initial works will be at site entrance on A9 at Achkeepster.

From mid-late March 2017, drivers using the A9 will notice construction activity at the entrance to the 26.7MW Bad á Cheò Wind Farm site at Achkeepster, Caithness.

Our civil contractors, Farrans have now started preparation work on the 13 turbine site which will continue through 2017 and into 2018. Turbines are due to start arriving on site in summer 2018.

Mark Godding, innogy's Projects Manager said:"We will ensure that the community is kept up to date with developments on site. From April, regular updates will be available on our website and will also be provided to the neighbouring community councils. A newsletter with more comprehensive information on forthcoming activities will be distributed to neighbouring homes later this month."

When constructed, the wind farm will consist of up to 13 turbines, with an installed capacity of up to 26.7 megawatts (MW). The wind farm will connect into the transmission network at the SSE Mybster Substation which is located approximately 2 km north of Bad á Cheò Wind Farm. The scheme will be connected via an underground cable from the wind farm control building to the second phase of the Mybster substation. The grid connection date for Bad á Cheò is October 2018.

Should residents have any issues arising from construction activities please do not hesitate to make contact with mark.godding@innogy.com .

A community benefit fund will be made available once the wind farm starts commercial operation.
