Leader Expresses Disappointment Following Police Meeting - Centralisation Goes Ahead
17th August 2017
Leader of the Highland Council Margaret Davidson commented following her meeting with Police Scotland on 16 August 2017, saying: "I am very grateful to ACC Hawkins and other officers for a very candid and useful meeting and for providing the information which we requested.
"I remain, however, extremely disappointed in the recommendation going to the SPA and the poor governance in that decision making process. I remain unconvinced by the rationale for a two-centre National Database Enquiry Unit (NDEU) model and I hope that the SPA will seriously question this recommendation and demand details of all the options considered in order to make an informed decision.
"Our priority in the Highlands is to retain secure and high quality jobs in the north and resist this damaging strategy of centralisation by Police Scotland."
