Pulteneytown People's Project Awarded £149,295

Pulteneytown People's Project has been successful in securing £149,295 over the next 3 years from the BIG Lottery Community Led Activity. The funding will allow the organisation to continue to deliver existing activities and develop new ones within the community.



Katrina MacNab CEO is delighted with the news. She said "This will allow us to develop existing classes including, amongst others, our ladies hobbies group, which is basically a friendly group who meet at our ‘Natter and Knit Club'. This particular group has grown over the last 12 months and now occupies a bigger room in the facility.

Our Men's Shed runs twice a week with around 8-12 individuals attending per week, a mix of retired professionals and younger men unable to work with activities including pool, dominoes and darts alongside support with small DIY tasks.

The funding will also allow us to continue to support the ‘stay and play' sessions, held on a Wednesday to Friday, where children are welcome to join in fun activities, play with other children and learn new skills."

Following a community consultation held last year, this funding will allow PPP to establish new activities.

A delighted Katrina MacNab added "The community consultation came up with a lot of suggestions and this funding will allow us to deliver some of these suggestions. We are now in a position to develop cooking classes, crafts, adult literacy and an art class. I am thrilled that we have managed to secure this funding as it allows us to grow our activities, which make a real difference in our community."

The centre is already vibrant with a new pensioner's lunch club, office rental and training facilities, Telfords Cafe, as well as secured contracts to deliver Modern Apprenticeships, Activity Agreements, Care at Home, Housing Support and crèche services.

Shona Kirk, Chair of Pulteneytown People’s Project said "There is a massive amount of work that goes into putting such applications together and the staff should be congratulated on their hard work and commitment to have secured this funding. As a Board we are absolutely delighted to see this successfully concluded. The funding will help secure and develop new sessions for around 120 people per week. It also secures employment and contributes to the Centre’s continued sustainability."
