The Local Rail Development Fund has re-opened for further applications from community led initiatives.

This follows on from the first round, which saw almost £700k awarded to ten communities to take forward development works which will consider rail solutions to local transport issues.

Michael Matheson, Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Infrastructure and Connectivity said:

‘The success of our £8bn investment in rail infrastructure and services since 2007 relies on communities embracing the potential for growth provided by our railway.

"This £2 million fund will help communities bring forward proposals to tackle specific, local rail connectivity issues, which will form part of our considerations for long-term investment in Scotland's transport system.

"Ten communities are already benefitting from £700,000 worth of grants, I am keen to encourage more bids for the remaining funds (£1.3m) this time round."

Organisations that were previously unsuccessful can also submit updated or new proposals based on the feedback they have received.
