2,768 new cases of COVID-19 reported.

41,556 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results
7.1% of these were positive.

26 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive.

51 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19.

890 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19.

4,294,116 people have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccination and 3,883,886 have received their second dose.

on 20 October, 26 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive.

in the week ending 17 October, 139 deaths were registered where COVID-19 was on the death certificate.

Since the start of the outbreak:

8,980 people have died who have tested positive as at 20 October.

11,406 deaths have been registered in Scotland where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate up to 17 October.

31% of COVID-19 registered deaths related to deaths in care homes, 62% were in hospitals and 7% were at home or non-institutional settings (as at 17 October).

890 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19; of these, 51 were in intensive care.

in addition, yesterday 16 confirmed COVID-19 patients were in intensive care longer than 28 days.

in the week ending 16 October, 577 patients with confirmed COVID-19 were admitted to hospital.

in the week ending 19 October, 40 patients with confirmed COVID-19 were admitted to intensive care.

22,633 inpatients who tested positive for COVID-19 have been discharged from hospital since 5 March 2020.

as at 13 October, 1,551 people were delayed in hospital.

On 20 October:

During the week ending 20 October, in total:

52,782 people were newly tested
18,069 people tested positive for the first time
215,404 tests reported (39 tests per 1,000 population)
19,132 positive tests reported (8.9% of tests)
Since the start of the outbreak, as at 20 October:

a total of 3,341,320 people in Scotland have been tested at least once. Of these people:
615,182 have tested positive
2,726,138 were confirmed negative
a total of 4,733,942 COVID-19 tests carried out through NHS labs and 6,265,995 through UKG Labs in Scotland have reported results.
For the week 3 to 9 October 2021, the ONS Covid-19 Infection Survey estimates that:

1 in 80 people in the community population in Scotland had the coronavirus (COVID-19) (95% credible interval: 1 in 100 to 1 in 65)
this equates to around 66,600 people (95% credible interval: 53,900 to 80,900)
