DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd, (September, 21st) sold 381 rams and females at its annual show and sale sponsored by Norvite.
The judge, Mr John Pirie, Chapelpark Farm, Kingussie, awarded the overall show champion and winner of the Mountrich trophy to a Texel shearling from Messrs D. N. Campbell & Sons, Bardnaclavan Farm, Thurso, which realised £950. The Cheviot champion was awarded by Mr R. Mackenzie, Muirton, Munlochy to a shearling from Mr G. Johnstone, Hallcroft, Brora, which realised £400.
Suffolk shearlings (77) averaged £501.43 (+ £17.83) and sold to £1,100 gross from North Essie, Fraserburgh.
Texel shearlings (132) averaged £508.41 (- £31.14) and sold to £1,150 gross from Clyth Mains, Occumster, Caithness.
Blue Texel shearlings (2) averaged £550 and sold to £600 gross from Millside Farm, Galston, Ayrshire.
Blue Faced Leicester shearlings (62) averaged £462.10 (- £26.00) and sold to £1,700 gross from Broadleys, Dunning, Perth.
Charollais shearlings (9) averaged £256.67 (+ £25.67) and sold to £380 gross from Whitebog, Rosemarkie.
Beltex shearlings (16) averaged £266.25 and sold to £650 gross from The Stables, Fearn, Tain.
Cross shearlings (7) averaged £270 and sold to £520 gross from Stonyford Farm, Tarland.
Cheviot rams (25) averaged £260 and sold to £480 gross from Innergellie House, Anstruther.
Suffolk ram lambs (17) averaged £265.29 (+ £37.92) and sold to £450 gross from Boggie Park, Thurso.
Texel ram lambs (20) averaged £309 (+ £49.67) and sold to £500 gross from Wester Moy, Muir of Ord.
Blue Texel ram lambs (2) sold to £300 gross from Millside Farm.
Females (11) sold to £420 gross for a Suffolk in-lamb gimmer from Ashton Farm, Inverness.

Dingwall's annual sale is becoming quite a spectacle to be seen with demand rising especially further afield in pedigree flocks.
