DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (October, 2nd) sold 746 store cattle at their annual show and sale of native and continental store cattle, including an Aberdeen Angus section.
The judge, Mr Connon, Skilmafilly, Ellon, awarded the continental champion to a 460kg Limousin cross bullock from Messrs J Munro & Son, Invercharron, Ardgay, realising £1,320. The continental reserve was a 510kg Limousin cross heifer from Mr D. Dalgetty, Cabrich, Kirkhill, realising £1,200. In the Aberdeen Angus section, the champion prize went to a 435kg bullock from Messrs J G Grant & Son, Gaskbeg, Laggan, realising £1,130, and the reserve to a 445kg bullock also from Gaskbeg, realising £1,080.

Continental bullocks (266) averaged 250.5p (+ 43.8p on the year) and sold to 332.6p per kg for a 445kg Limousin cross from Chapelpark, Kingussie, and £1,690 gross for a 685kg Charolais cross from Clyth Mains, Occumster.
Continental heifers (247) averaged 235.7p (+ 48.6p on the year) and sold to 328.1p per kg and £1,460 gross for a 445kg Limousin cross from Invercharron.
Aberdeen Angus and native bred bullocks (138) averaged 234.4p (+ 48.9 on the year) and sold to 264p per kg for a 400kg Aberdeen Angus cross from Gaskbeg, Laggan, and £1,470 gross for a 650kg Aberdeen Angus from 18 Drynie Park, Muir of Ord.
Aberdeen Angus and native bred heifers (95) averaged 218.8p (+ 54.6p on the year) and sold to 277.1p per kg for a 332kg Aberdeen Angus from Wester Fearn, Ardgay, and £1,040 gross for a 468kg Aberdeen Angus from Gaskbeg.
A mixed show on offer, saw all classes selling extremely well with top quality calves at a special premium.

OTM cows (29) averaged 118.7p and sold to 144.8p per kg for a 670kg Luing from Redbank, Heights of Fodderty, and £1,110 gross for a 775kg Simmental cross from Dell of Killiehuntly, Kingussie.
OTM clean heifers (6) averaged 146.9p and sold to 176.5p per kg and £1,200 gross for a 680kg Aberdeen Angus from Spittal Shore, Strathpeffer.
OTM bulls (one) sold to 91.9p per kg and £680 gross fro a 740kg Aberdeen Angus from 3 Glen, Dunvegan.
