Scottish Water to hold market day conference in Inverness for Highlands contractors

16th February 2014

Scottish Water's Procurement & Supply Chain team is holding a Market Day Conference for Highlands contractors in Inverness on Friday 21st February.

The event is part of a strategy to outline Scottish Water's procurement process for rural contractors who can help deliver investment in the upcoming 2015-21 investment period.

The target audience is Highlands-based contractors and specialist suppliers or service providers who seek an opportunity to support delivery of Scottish Water' s Infrastructure and Non-Infrastructure capital programme.

The event will take place from 11.30am to 2.30pm on 21st February 2014 at the Best Western Palace Hotel, Inverness.

This includes organisations that can provide rural in-house delivery of projects by working closely with local Scottish Water teams and who can confidently perform investment work for communities in the Highlands.

Lauren Strachan, Procurement Specialist, Scottish Water, said: "Presentations by Scottish Water at the Market Day Conference will focus on a number of different supply chain requirements as well as our corporate and customer requirements.

" We will provide a timeline for associated procurement activity so Highlands contractors who are interested in taking part in the tender process know what to expect and when.

" This rural, highly localised tier of the supply chain will be designed to support and compliment existing strategic arrangements with the larger water and waste water alliance partners, who were recently announced.â€

The opportunity for businesses to tender to become part of Scottish Water's framework will be published in March on www.publictendersscotland.publiccontractsscotland.gov.uk.

The best way for businesses to access this is to register, for free, on http://publiccontractsscotland.gov.uk.

The first stage of procurement, known as Tier One, involved appointing two partners who will cover all of Scotland. One partner will cover water and one will cover waste water, and they are responsible for delivering upgrades, maintenance and new infrastructure assets for the people of Scotland.

Caledonia Water Alliance, a partnership of Morrison Utility Services and Aecom, will be the water infrastructure alliance partner delivering around £360 million of investment over the six years.

BBV Alliance, a partnership of Black and Veatch and Byzak (part of Amey), will be Scottish Water's waste water infrastructure alliance partner delivering around £340 million of investment over the six years.

Contractors in the Highlands wanting more information, or who can†t attend but are interested, should email Lauren Strachan, Procurement Specialist, Scottish Water: Lauren.Strachan[AT]scottishwater.co.uk.

Douglas Millican, Chief Executive of Scottish Water, said: †Our delivery programme is geared to get the best teams to help us deliver our investment programme. We will also provide benefit to communities across Scotland through businesses that can work in our rural framework and help deliver the investment their community needs."

Scottish Water operates on long investment cycles which enable forward planning of where investment will be directed. This enables Scottish Water to continue to meet regulatory requirements for drinking water quality, environmental compliance, customer service and economic performance.
