Find Out More About Becoming A Nurse Or Midwife
21st March 2008
Robert Gordon University opens its doors to tomorrow's nurses and midwives
School leavers and people considering returning to study will have the chance to find out more about a career in nursing or midwifery at an open day being held at The Robert Gordon University (RGU) on Saturday 12 April 2008
RGU offers courses in adult, mental health and children's nursing, as well as midwifery.
Potential students and their family and friends will be able to visit the University's state of the art facilities at Garthdee and discuss their options with members of staff including course leaders and clinical staff. Current students will also be on hand to offer advice on various aspects of student life.
The event is not solely targeted at school leavers. Mature individuals considering a career change into nursing and midwifery are highly sought after by the health service as they bring the additional benefit of life experience to the sector. In addition, current nurses and support staff can find out what options are available to enhance their professional development.
Jennie Parry, Head of the School of Nursing and Midwifery said, "RGU is the sole provider in the north of Scotland for a wide range of pre and post- registration nursing courses, and our students have access to some of the best educational resources in Scotland. These include a clinical skills centre designed specifically for the education of student nurses."
The Open Day will be held between 10am - 3pm at RGU's Faculty of Health and Social Care, Garthdee on Saturday 12 April. Nursing and midwifery staff will be available to answer any questions, and there will be tours of the impressive campus and RGU's leading edge Clinical Skills Laboratory. Free parking will be available. For further information please contact Susan Cumming on 01224 2621982 or s.cumming[AT]rgu.ac.uk
