Deaths involving COVID-19, weekly registrations (go to section) • As at the 9th of October 2022, there have been a total of 15,817 deaths registered in Scotland where the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) was mentioned on the death certificate.  In the latest week there were 36 deaths, nine fewer than the previous week.

Producer input prices rose by 20.0% in the year to September 2022, down from 20.9% in the year to August 2022, its third consecutive monthly fall.   Producer output (factory gate) prices rose by 15.9% in the year to September 2022, down from 16.4% in the year to August 2022.

The latest estimated rate of coronavirus (COVID-19) reinfections on 29 September 2022 was 41.6 per 100,000 participant days at risk (95% confidence interval: 40.8 to 42.5).   Of all identified reinfections, 92.3% occurred during the period when the Omicron variants were dominant.

Private rental prices paid by tenants in the UK rose by 3.6% in the 12 months to September 2022, up from 3.4% in the 12 months to August 2022.   Private rental prices grew by 3.6% in England, 2.7% in Wales and 3.9% in Scotland in the 12 months to September 2022.

UK House Price Index August 2022 Shows Big Increases But Market Slows
UK average house prices increased by 13.6% over the year to August 2022, down from 16.0% in July 2022.   Despite UK house prices increasing between July and August 2022, annual growth has slowed because of the sharp rise in house prices in August 2021 following changes in the stamp duty holiday.

The Consumer Prices Index including owner occupiers' housing costs (CPIH) rose by 8.8% in the 12 months to September 2022, up from 8.6% in August and returning to July's recent high.   The largest upward contributions to the annual CPIH inflation rate in September 2022 came from housing and household services (principally from electricity, gas and other fuels, and owner occupiers' housing costs), food and non-alcoholic beverages, and transport (principally motor fuels).

Highland Adult Protection Partnership Public Statement - 3 Brothers Lost Money
The Highland Adult Protection Partnership greatly welcomes publication on the Scottish Court and Tribunal website of a court decision in the case of three brothers who were found to have been subject to financial exploitation.  The brothers had, in dubious circumstances, appointed two attorneys to manage their personal welfare and financial affairs as their health declined.

2 in 5 Scottish employers do not feel well equipped to support women going through the menopause at work
A survey by workplace expert Acas (The Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service) shows that two out of five employers in Scotland (43%) do not feel well equipped to support women going through the menopause.   Most women go through the menopause between the ages of 45 and 55 but it can also happen earlier or later in life.
