Rollout Of Adult Disability Payment
People living in Angus, North Lanarkshire and South Lanarkshire can now apply for Adult Disability Payment.   The new Scottish Government benefit replaces the UK Government's Personal Independence Payment and provides financial support to people aged between 16 and state pension age, who are disabled, have a long-term health condition or have a terminal illness.

This article is from the Constitution Unit Blog published today 20 June 2022 With the Scottish government gearing up for a second independence referendum, questions have been raised about whether or not the Scottish Parliament can legislate for such a poll in a way that the courts will find lawful.  In this post, David Torrance discusses the wording of the relevant legislation and the impact of subsequent caselaw, concluding that the prevailing legal understanding is that even a consultative referendum would be outside the scope of the parliament's powers.

Increase In Hepatitis - Liver Inflammation - Cases In Children Under Investigation
Regular UKHSA updates on the ongoing investigation into higher than usual rates of liver inflammation (hepatitis) in children across the UK.   The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has published an epidemiological update on the UK-wide investigations into a rise in cases of sudden onset hepatitis in children, updating data and findings on cases resident in the UK up to 13 June 2022.

Covid Spring Booster Dose Reminder
People in eligible groups who, for whatever reason, have not yet had their spring booster jab are being encouraged to make an appointment now.   These additional vaccinations have been offered to people aged 75 or over and those aged over 12 who are immunosuppressed, with clinics operating since early March until 30 June.

Funding provided for staff health and wellbeing resources - NHS Highland
Funding of £355k has been provided to NHS Highland by the Scottish Government to support staff health and wellbeing for those delivering health and social care services in the board wide area.   Following consultation with staff, these resources are now being allocated out to teams, including for those who work in primary and social care.
