Extra Support For 30,000 Families
Plans to remove all income thresholds from Best Start Foods by 2023-24 have been announced as part of the second Tackling Child Poverty Delivery Plan, ‘Best Start, Bright Futures'.   This will increase eligibility to all people in receipt of a qualifying benefit.

Warm Home Discount Expanded To Help 280,000 Scottish Households With Energy Bills
We have launched a consultation on a proposed expansion of the Warm Home Discount scheme for support in Scotland, expanding the scheme to cover an additional 50,000 Scottish households per year.   Over 280,000 low income and vulnerable households across Scotland to get extra help to pay their energy bills next winter.

Incineration Review Published - Independent Report Recommends Limit On Future Incineration Capacity
An independent review of the role of incineration in Scotland, which recommends a cap on future incineration capacity, has been welcomed by the Circular Economy Minister.   The report, which was authored by waste sector expert Dr Colin Church, reviews the role of incineration in the waste hierarchy, with a focus on aligning national capacity with Scotland's waste reduction targets.

The latest compendium annual housing statistics have been published today by Scotland's Chief Statistician.   This release covers annual statistics up to the financial year 2020-21 on total new housing supply in Scotland across all sectors, along with information on various elements of local authority housing such as stock, lettings, evictions and housing lists.

Last month Macdonalds takeaway place in Inverness raised the pay rate to £11 per hour an Inverness.   Staff shortages in catering and cost of living rising seem to be pushing people to move on to find better rates of pay.
