DINGWALL., Dingwall and Highlands Marts Ltd., (September 12th) sold 3,653 ewe lambs and gimmers at the Highland Mule Breeders Association annual sale.   Highland Mule gimmers (962) averaged £188 (up £9.39 on the year) and sold to £310 gross for the 1st Prize pen from Redhill Farm, Elgin.

Dingwall and Highland Marts Ltd - Sale Cattle 14 September 2022
FORT WILLIAM., Dingwall and Highland Marts Ltd (September 14th) sold 551 Weaned calved, store, breeding and OTM cattle.   Bullocks (319) averaged 282.2p per kg (down 22.7p on the year) and sold to 347.7p per kg for a pen of 220kg Charolais crosses from Dunlichity Farm, Farr and £1,360 gross for a 615kg Simmental Cross from Ardtornish Farms, Morven.

DINGWALL., Dingwall and Highlands Marts Ltd., (September 8th) sold 10,011 Store lambs.   Cheviot wedder lambs (7,521) averaged £59.31 and sold to £86 gross from Tulloch Farm, Bonar Bridge.

Tight labour market may see Britain's pay squeeze bottom out, but is not turning around our shrinking workforce
Britain recorded its sharpest real pay fall since 1977 this summer.  But with nominal pay growth strengthening and the Energy Price Guarantee set to reduce inflation by around four percentage points relative to what it might otherwise have been, the depth of Britain's pay squeeze may bottom out this autumn, the Resolution Foundation said today (Thursday) in response to the latest ONS labour market statistics.

Inflation Surge Eases - Though Low-income Households Still Face Double Digit Inflation
Britain's inflation surge eased in August - falling for the first time since September 2021 – but it remains higher for low-income households, and will remain elevated for everyone well into next year, the Resolution Foundation said on Wednesday in response to the latest ONS prices data.   CPI inflation fell from 10.1 per cent to 9.9 per cent in August – a fall entirely driven by falling transport costs.

DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (September 13th) sold 16 Prime Cattle.   Prime Bullocks (4) averaged 229.2p per kg (-16.7p) and sold to 238.0p per kg for a 600kg Simmental from Allanglach, North Kessock selling to Messrs J M Munro Ltd, Dingwall and £1,734.85 gross for a 785kg Saler cross also from Allanglach, North Kessock.

High Life Highland To Close All Locations As A Mark Of Respect
Chair of High Life Highland's Board, Mark Tate said, "Following the announcement made by Buckingham Palace that the funeral of Her Majesty The Queen will take place on Monday 19th September, the Board and Management believe it would be appropriate to close all High Life Highland buildings to allow our staff the opportunity to pay their respects." All High Life Highland locations will resume normal opening hours on Tuesday 20 th September 2022..

No time for celebration despite unexpected ease in inflation
Annualised inflation (as measured by CPI) slowed marginally in August to 9.9%, down from 10.1% in July.   That reflects a moderation in the price of motor fuels, which were up 32.1% year-on-year in August compared to 43.7% in July That was partially offset by higher food electricity and gas costs, up 13.1%, 54.0% and 95.7% respectively Nicholas Hyett, Investment Analyst, Wealth Club "Inflation moderated slightly in August, but it is far too early to be celebrating victory in the war against rising prices.

In April to June 2022, the number of people aged 65 years and over in employment increased by a record 173,000 on the quarter to 1.468 million, which is also a record level.   This increase was driven by rises in part-time work, and those who joined employment worked relatively few hours, so the average hours worked for those aged 65 and over fell in the last quarter.

For the three months ending July 2022, the highest employment rate estimate in the UK was in the East of England (78.6%) and the lowest was in Northern Ireland (69.6%).   The largest increase in the employment rate compared with the same period last year was in Scotland and the West Midlands, both up by 1.1 percentage points, the largest decrease was in Wales down by 2.4 percentage points.
