Investing In Scotland's Workforce - Up To £15,000 For Eligible Businesses
Thousands of businesses can now apply for up to £15,000 to help retrain and upskill their workforce.   The Scottish Government's Flexible Workforce Development Fund provides workers in organisations of all sizes with access to training courses through local colleges, the Open University in Scotland and Skills Development Scotland.

Inflation Predicted To Rise To 18 Percent Early In 2023
Guardian 22 August 2022 Inflation in the UK will hit 18% early next year as consumers count the cost of the deepening energy crisis, one of the world's biggest banks has predicted.   The US financial services group Citi said it expected the consumer prices index to breach 18% in the first quarter of 2023, while the retail prices index inflation rate would soar to 21%.

UK Government To Take No Further Action Under National Security And Investment Act On BT Share Acquisition
The government has decided to take no further action on the acquisition of 5.9% shares by Altice in BT.   The acquisition by Altice of 5.9% shares in BT was called in for a full national security assessment by Business Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng on Thursday 26 May.

Waste Collection Services Strike In Highland From 24 August
Notification of Industrial Action by Unite and GMB Unions - Pay Award.   At a special meeting of council leaders on Friday 19 August, an improved pay offer has been put to the SJC unions raising the overall over value of the offer to 5% and increasing the Scottish Local Government Living Wage to £10.50 per hour.
