Thousands Of Cadent Gas Workers To Stage 48 Hour Strike
Cadent Gas pays its chief executive £1.4 million a year - it can afford to pay workers properly, says GMB Union Thousands of field force workers at gas giant Cadent will stage a 48 hour strike this month.   Around 2,000 GMB members will down tools on Monday 30 May and Tuesday 31 May 2022 in a dispute over pay and conditions.

£3 Million Awarded To Long Covid Projects In Scotland
Projects to improve the care and support available for people with long COVID are to benefit from an initial tranche of £3 million of Scottish Government funding.   Following a thorough planning process undertaken by health boards to determine the key priorities, the first allocations of the long COVID Support Fund across 2022 will provide £3 million for boards to introduce care co-ordinator roles, extra resource to support a patient-centred assessment, including a multi-disciplinary assessment service, and additional capacity for community rehabilitation to support people with issues affecting their day-to-day quality of life.

A dedicated fund to repay mesh removal costs will open for applications on 6 June 2022.   The Transvaginal Mesh Removal Reimbursement Scheme will enable women who have paid for surgery to claim their money back.

New Benefit Counter-fraud Plan Set To Save Taxpayer £2 Billion
A £600 million plan to fight fraud in the welfare system will introduce a range of new powers and boost the counter-fraud frontline, saving the taxpayer £2 billion over three years.   Over £600 million to bolster the counter-fraud frontline with thousands of trained specialists, stopping around £2 billion in fraud over three years New powers planned for specialist Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) staff to arrest and carry out search and seizure Measures also include boosted access to bank data on a larger scale and a new civil penalty will prevent fraud going unpunished.
