26 Scottish councils join forces on digital transformation

A consortium of twenty-six local authorities in Scotland are joining forces to improve council services using digital technology.
The Local Government Digital Transformation Board are set to recruit a chief digital officer and team who will be expected 'to shape and lead a programme of change to radically improve how local services work and how the councils serve citizens.'
The consortium represents most of the 32 Scottish councils including Glasgow, Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire and Highland Council.
A digital transformation strategy for local government was been approved by the Society of Local Authority Chief Executives and the LGTDB which is made up of a range of organisations and chaired by Lorraine McMillan, chief executive of East Renfrewshire Council. Council of Scottish Local Authorities president councillor David O'Neill said: 'This exciting new role will harness our expertise further by enhancing the innovative thinking which already exists within our workforce and strengthening the service we offer to our communities.'

The Highland Council is delighted to confirm a highly successful second year for Public Service Obligation (PSO) flights between Wick and Aberdeen. Members at today's (14 March 2024) meeting of The Highland Council agreed the local authority's new draft Community Wealth Building Strategy. They were also asked to note that a period of public engagement on the draft will now begin, with a final strategy returning to full Council for consideration in September.
