Final Phase 2 Measures Confirmed - Face Masks In All Stores from 10 July
Face coverings and 2 metre rule exemptions announced in preparation for Phase 3.   Provisions to allow children to play outdoors with friends, the introduction of exemptions to the 2 metre physical distancing rule, and mandatory use of face coverings in retail settings from Phase 3 are among measures announced by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon today (Thursday, 2 July 2020).

Healthier, Greener Town Centres - Optimising town centres for the aftermath of COVID-19
Diverse views from urban, town, rural and island communities must be heard if town centres are to be revitalised and renewed in the wake of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, according to Communities Secretary Aileen Campbell.   Experts in town planning, public health, transport, and business will take on board views of local communities to build on the progress of the Scottish Government's 2013 Town Centre Action Plan.

Update To Shielding Guidance - Changes to advice for children and young people
New evidence indicates that a large percentage of children and young people may no longer need to shield.   A review by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health with regard to COVID-19 states that the majority of children with conditions including asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, and kidney disease do not need to continue to shield and can, for example, return to school as it reopens.

Private water supply advice to tourist accommodation providers
As Scotland prepares for the easing of lockdown and the re-opening of the tourism and hospitality sector, The Highland Council's Environmental Health are advising holiday accommodation providers to make sure their private water supplies are safe to drink.   A large number of self-catering and tourist accommodation in the Highlands are served by private water supplies and with these being closed during the lockdown period, the water supply system may not have been maintained and could create a risk to the quality and safety of the drinking water.

Extra Funding For Service Charities As Veterans Support Is Stepped Up
Today the Office for Veterans' Affairs (OVA) and the MOD have announced that 100 Armed Forces charities will benefit from nearly £6million of extra funding to support serving personnel, veterans and their families during the coronavirus pandemic.   £6million of new funding announced for 100 military charities across the UK Consultation will be launched in July on tax relief for businesses that employ veterans Enhanced support for ex-service personnel announced during Armed Forces week part of government's drive to make the UK the best country to be a veteran.

Highland Council Energy Efficient Scotland: Area Based Scheme EES:ABS to resume
Following Scottish Government guidance on returning to construction sites across Scotland, works will be restarting on the EES:ABS scheme across the Highlands.   In line with the guidance, contractors will be undertaking phased restarts and adhering to social distancing to allow workers to return to construction sites gradually while using measures such as hand hygiene.
